Susan Charest is the Director of Community Relations for the Greater Nashville Technology Council. In this role, she focuses on creating tech educational opportunities for educators and students of all ages – actively engaging those who live in underserved or underemployed areas. She is a program manager for Go Tech – a program that upskills those who have the aptitude to learn tech through the IT Infrastructure Support Professional (ITIP) course. She also coordinates opportunities for the TECH COACH program to connect our Tech Professionals to our tech students to prepare students for their new careers.
Susan’s 20+ years of IT work experience started at NASA where she was accepted into an apprentice program as a computer support specialist from there she worked as an IT Project Manager for Microsoft and then landed her last role as an IT Director for a healthcare company.
Susan enjoys being active in her community. She was the Chair of the Board for Sharing of Middle TN, a 501c (3) nonprofit foundation for 10 years and contributed to Davidson County’s Metro Health department FIMR program. She is currently an Advisory Board member for the Cooper Trooper Foundation.
Susan studied Computer Information Technology at Hillsboro Community College, Brevard College and Camden County College. She is certified in Novell (CNA), Sybase SQL (DBA), Microsoft and UNIX System Administration. She enjoys painting and has been a featured artist at the Franklin Art Scene. She lives with her husband, sons and their dog named Fenway in Franklin.
