Member Services Intern — Nashville Technology Council

Position Description:

As a member services intern, you will have the opportunity to gain exposure in the exciting environment of the Nashville Technology Council. You will learn about technology businesses in the Nashville area while attending NTC events and interacting with the NTC membership. You will have the opportunity to improve your writing, communication and organizational skills. Throughout your internship, you will assist in numerous functions of the department as listed below.

Learning Objectives:

  • You will learn how to work in a team environment to achieve a project/goal.
  • You will learn how businesses utilize a CRM system to better their business processes.
  • You will gain experience in databases and improve your technology skills.
  • You will improve your verbal and written communication skills through daily interaction with business leaders.
  • You will improve your time management skills in order to effectively and efficiently produce results with multiple projects.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Daily updating of database information
  • Troubleshooting of database issues
  • Designing and creating reports from database
  • Contacting member companies to update member information
  • Managing NTC Emma Database including: updating information, adding contacts, and tracking records
  • Assisting in the updating/reviewing/and development of the NTC website.
  • Assisting in the implementation of all aspects of CRM system

Education/Experience: Intern must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree. No prior experience necessary. Selection for an internship does not guarantee employment at any time during the internship or upon completion.

Work Schedule: Flexible hours will be arranged with student’s schedule. A minimum of twenty hours per week are required. Start date is immediate.

Salary / Course Credit: Pay will be $10/hour and also includes lunch at the NTC offices on normal business days. The NTC will work with your college or university to meet the requirements of an intern credit as necessary. The student is responsible for securing and coordinating all information if college credit is needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong writing and proofreading skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) is required.
  • Candidates must be comfortable with Internet technologies. Knowledge of HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) is a plus.

Communications Intern — Nashville Technology Council

Position Description:

As a communications intern, you will have the opportunity to gain exposure in the exciting environment of the Nashville Technology Council. You will learn about technology businesses in the Nashville area while attending NTC events and gain experience in your field of study. You will have the opportunity to improve your writing, communication and organizational skills through writing stories, press releases and etc. Throughout your internship, you will assist in numerous functions of the department as listed below.

Learning Objectives:

  • You will gain a better understanding of the technology business environment in Middle Tennessee through working with NTC members.
  • You will enhance your written communication skills through writing stories and press releases.
  • You will learn how to work as a team to complete a task.
  • You will enhance your website development skills by updating NTC’s website and NTC’s social networking site.
  • You will find out how the skills you are learning in school can be applied to real world situations to create positive results.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop feature stories on NTC member/new member companies.
  • Attend NTC events and write news stories on the events.
  • Create copy for NTC publications.
  • Proof copy for projects prior to print.
  • Help update NTC web site by reviewing sections for accuracy, writing daily blogs, and updating news feeds.
  • Maintain NTC media clippings and produce a quarterly clip report.
  • Maintain NTC member media clippings.
  • Take photographs at NTC events.
  • Update NTC social Media sites: Twitter, LinkedIn, & Facebook

Education/Experience: Intern must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations or related field. No prior experience necessary. Selection for an internship does not guarantee employment at any time during the internship or upon completion.
