Nashville, TN – August 17, 2020 – BALLAST (LBMC InfoSec Apps, LLC), an affiliate of LBMC Information Security and the LBMC family of companies, today announced the initial launch of an application programming interface (API) as part of its 6.0 software release. The API will enable users to integrate BALLAST risk assessment data into their enterprise dashboards, data analytics platforms, or third-party applications to track organizational risk.

There was a strong demand for the API by large, enterprise customers who were already leveraging tools like Microsoft® Power BI® and Tableau®. They knew that BALLAST already enabled them to report real-time on organizational risk, but they wanted a way to aggregate their risk data with existing enterprise key risk indicators (KRIs) to quickly identify trends and mitigate organizational risk.

In an age of big data, machine learning (ML), artificial intelligence (AI) and predictive analytics, companies are increasingly looking to employ these technologies to streamline risk management. BALLAST is
already helping over 300 organizations streamline and automate their risk assessment processes. Now, the API is making the power of big data a reality by providing real-time access to risk and compliance data, allowing them to connect the dots between year-over-year performance, ongoing remediation activities and their impact on organizational risk.

Out of the gate, the API is robust, yet simple and intuitive to use. It aims to provide developers, end-user organizations and partners a way to develop interactive visualizations and business intelligence powered by BALLAST risk and compliance algorithms.

“Existing customers and partners can extend BALLAST’s already robust reporting capabilities by using the BALLAST API,” says Mark Fulford, Co-Founder and CEO of BALLAST. “We are proud to be able to offer the new API as part of release 6.”

What is BALLAST?

BALLAST was developed by a team of LBMC’s risk and security professionals with the experience of hundreds of risk assessments performed over many years. As a result, they know first-hand how difficult and time consuming it can be to manage the risk assessment process using traditional tools like spreadsheets. So, they reimagined the risk assessment process and designed BALLAST – a risk assessment tool that is simple to use, flexible and scalable.

One of the most impressive features of BALLAST is the ability to harness the power of the data collected by your risk assessments. You can practically export any data collected in BALLAST with just a few simple clicks. However, they have taken things one step further to give users direct access to real-time data via an API.

“Previously, many of our clients were manually collating spreadsheets, compiling the data and providing the results to organizational stakeholders to include in enterprise reporting. Now, with BALLAST, they are able to create and deploy a risk assessment in a matter of minutes and begin collecting the responses that feed real-time risk data into both BALLAST and enterprise dashboards – that is powerful!” says Mark Fulford, Co-Founder and CEO of BALLAST.
