NASHVILLE, Tenn. March 11, 2020— Leading clinical decision support system EvidenceCare announced this week the promotion of healthcare information technology industry veteran Amy Deaton to chief operating officer.

Originally joining the company as the senior vice president of implementations and strategy, Deaton became familiar with EvidenceCare through her work as a consultant and partner at Cumberland Consulting Group, a healthcare IT-focused consultancy. During her 14 years at Cumberland, Deaton worked as a part of the leadership team and managed the firm’s strategic practice with clients across the U.S.

With more than 20 years of HIT experience, Deaton said she feels energized by the recent growth and strategic direction of EvidenceCare.

“The spirit of innovation at EvidenceCare naturally drew me in,” Deaton said. “Our team and product continue to improve every day, and I’m pleased to deliver meaningful solutions that keep patients safe and hospitals solvent.”

EvidenceCare, a clinical decision support platform integrated directly into clinical workflow, solves a fundamental need for healthcare providers to find and quickly digest the latest treatment guidelines in critical moments. Jim Jamieson, co-founder and president of EvidenceCare, said his confidence in Deaton’s health IT experience and leadership were drivers in the decision to move her to the c-suite.

“Amy’s work as SVP of implementations and strategy more than validated her innate ability to lead, project manage and keep us moving forward,” Jamieson said. “Her promotion was an easy decision, and we know she will be instrumental in the growth and scale EvidenceCare is about to experience.”

Before Cumberland Consulting, Deaton worked as a senior consultant at Computer Sciences Corporation. She is a member of several industry organizations, including the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, Project Management Institute and American Telemedicine Association. She is also a certified project management professional.
