CISOs Laud Vendor for Importance to the Business, Innovation and Ease of Use
Security Current, the premier CISO knowledge-sharing community, today announced that more than 20 CISOs from across industries selected next-generation virtual cyber range and security operations simulation provider Cloud Range as the winner of the Security Shark Tank® during RSA 2020.
In the Security Shark Tank, solution providers come face-to-face with more than 20 CISOs seeking innovative solutions for their most pressing security issues. Each provider is given 15 minutes to pitch their product in a rapid-fire question-and-answer session where they are scored on innovation and vision, ease of use and implementation, value to the industry and the presenter’s ability to clearly and effectively articulate their solution and business value.
George Llano, CISO, Deluxe Entertainment, hosted and moderated the event.
“Security Current’s Security Shark Tank® is the ideal way for CISOs to assess and source innovative solutions. As a knowledge sharing community, we start before the actual interactive pitches with my CISO peers selecting the solution providers to ensure their timeliness and innovation. As we increasingly rely on our providers to be partners, this process is invaluable, especially hearing our colleagues’ experiences, questions and potential concerns, all while receiving on-the- spot responses.”
The executive panel included:
Al Ghous, CSO, ServiceMax
BG Badriprasad, CSA, Ross Stores
Dave Ruedger, CISO, RMS
David Hahn, CSO, Silicon Valley Bank
Frank Aiello, CISO, Maximus
Frank Fischer, CISO, Deutsche Bahn
Hussein Syed, CISO, RWJ Barnabas Health
Jeff Trudeau, CSO, Credit Karma
Joey Johnson, CISO, Premise Health

Nipun Gupta, VP and Global Cyber Security Strategy & Innovation Lead, Deutsche Bank
Selim Aissi, SVP and CISO, Ellie Mae
“It is always a highly informative, entertaining and worthwhile use of our valuable time to take part in Security Current’s Security Shark Tank,” said Matt Hollcraft, CISO of Hellman and Friedman. “This real-time question and answer format lends itself to quickly understanding a provider’s value proposition and relevance. Thank you for yet another invaluable event.”
“The Security Shark Tank is a great opportunity for CISOs as it provides access to multiple security vendors in a very dynamic setting. Having so many qualified CISOs take part in the Security Shark Tank allows for a fantastic and invaluable exchange of information,” said Selim Aissi, Ellie Mae SVP and CISO. “The diversity of CISO thought leadership is difficult to find in any other format.”
Cloud Range, the winner, has changed how security operations and incident response teams prepare to defend against cyberattacks. Just as flight simulators are used to train pilots, cyber defense teams depend on Cloud Range’s remote access simulation platform to practice detection, response, and remediation of real cyberattacks in a customized and protected environment.
“Cloud Range is ahead of the game, and as an experienced CISO, when you see that a concept resonates so well with your respected peers, you know there’s something special. Cloud Range has taken the typical red team/blue team training approach to the next level. They truly understand not just the technology challenge, but the real business challenges as well, and how gaining hands-on experiences really matters in developing proficiency and aptitude. Their Security Shark Tank session highlighted the solution’s ability to fundamentally and dramatically improve the way security teams holistically detect and respond to threats.” Joey Johnson, CISO Premise Health. “There’s so much emerging tech out there that events like the Shark Tank provide great exposure for those truly innovative ideas.”
Al Ghous, ServiceMax CISO, said: “Cloud Range has come up with a unique approach to providing Security Operators and SOC Analysts innovative ways to hone their skills using a highly context-based approach.”
