For the month of April, we welcome Idyl Technologies as our featured member. To tell us more about the organization, we spoke to Grayson Adkins, CEO of Idyl.
What is Idyl Technologies?
Idyl Technologies was founded out of the collision of two things – (1) A disruptive approach to cloud computing and (2) Research conducted with support from the National Science Foundation. Through over two years of research and development we recognized a critical gap in the cloud computing market for users who want a high performance cloud that is optimized to support the growing wave of Containerized Applications. Today, half of all software developers are working with containers and about 30% are running containers in production. Those numbers are expected to nearly double by 2020. To accommodate this movement we are introducing Idyl Cloud, a container-native cloud service optimized for automation and scalability.
What is Idyl’s mission?
Our mission is to help IT teams become leaner, more nimble and more efficient so that they’re better equipped to meet their organizations’ evolving business demands. We aim to simplify the deployment and management of containerized applications, ensuring no company is left behind. As containers take over the software world we aim to be at the forefront of innovation and become the #1 choice in infrastructure providers.
What are the solutions Idyl offers to its customers?
In the software development life-cycle typically 10% of the time is spent developing software, while 90% is spent operating and maintaining it. Idyl Cloud eliminates manual processes and simplifies maintenance. The built-in automation of Idyl Cloud makes it easier to package, deploy, scale, update and monitor your applications—without complex configuration of management frameworks. Idyl Cloud is container-native, which means that it doesn’t just happen to run containers, it was purpose-built for them. Secure, bare-metal containers allow Idyl Cloud to achieve 2-3x performance over AWS for common operations like database transactions. Idyl Cloud is now as an invite-only Beta with a General Audience release expected in Fall 2019.
What are the solutions your organization offer to its customers?
Our core offering is a High Performance Container-Native Cloud. Combined with that we offer customers personalized consulting through the full cycle of planning, building, deploying, and managing a Containerized Application. We are also fully compatible with modern DevOps tooling such as Kubernetes, Docker, Ansible, JenkinsX, Terraform and more.
How are your employees finding value in NTC’s membership?
The NTC provides for the spread and adoption of modern technology through like-minded individuals across multiple industry verticals. Because every company today is also a technology company, the NTC becomes the point of collaboration that bridges all businesses. That collaboration and communication with other technologists is the greatest point of value for Idyl employees.
What are the opportunities you’ve seen elsewhere that you’d like to see more of in Nashville?
The tech community in Nashville has really grown over the past decade and frankly we’d like to see that be expedited. When it comes to opportunities for tech sector jobs we can all do a better job understanding the value tech employees bring to an organization.
What are you most excited about in Nashville?
The influx of great tech talent to Nashville and the growing recognition nationally of our city as a Tech Hub.
