Written by: Alex Curtis | Posted Feb 25, 2016

Over the past year, we have dedicated ourselves to making We Build Tech a useful, sustainable & successful vehicle to build a pipeline of great tech talent in our community. By connecting individuals, business and educators, We Build Tech provides users with a place to explore & promote tech careers, find opportunities, a learning library, videos of local technology professionals & more. We are excited to debut the launch of We Build Tech on Leap Day, and we want you to join us!

The NTC is hosting a celebration to recognize the one year anniversary of the LEAP grant. Our IT Pathway Collaborative was one of twelve proposals to receive funding from LEAP. This project addresses the IT skills gap and promotes IT career opportunities, which led to the creation of We Build Tech.

The morning of Monday, February 29th, we are bringing over 300 students to more than 25 local tech companies for a technology workplace learning day. Participating companies will provide students with a glimpse inside what they do & the technology they use. With over jobs 1,500 unfilled jobs in the technology industry today, we’re excited to give kids an idea of what a future in tech could be like in hopes it will spark their interest to choose and IT career path.

Starting at 3:30, representatives of businesses and the State of Tennessee actively involved in workforce development will gather to celebrate achievements, hard work and the year ahead. We’re also excited to formally launch We Build Tech, where you can view live demos of the platform and see the progress we’ve made in the past year. Come celebrate with food, provided by our friends at Sifted, drinks & great company.
