Talent Development

The deficit of technology workers is a national epidemic.

In the 2015 State of the Union address, President Obama stated that there are over 500,000 IT job vacancies in the United States. The White House expects that number to grow to 1.4 million by 2020 with only 400,000 new graduates expected to fill those jobs. In 2014, Middle Tennessee added 2,200 new IT jobs and experienced an estimated 1,549 IT vacancies. The NTC is seeking to address the shortage of skilled IT workers through building connections between students, IT professionals, and educators.

Teacher Information

Computer programming intersects so many areas of our lives from the online world to cell phones to even our modern cars, but today there are not enough trained IT people to meet the needs of businesses. Across the US, there are currently 500,000 open IT positions and that number is expected to grow to 1.4 million in the next 5 years. We can give our local students a competitive advantage and help them to build a bright future by teaching them basic computer programming skills.

Opportunities include:

  • Professional Development
  • Externships
  • Tech Teacher Peer Groups
  • Workplace Field Trips
