April 2, 2026 marks a major milestone for Insequence as the company celebrates 30 years of delivering technology solutions to the automotive manufacturing industry.

Since its founding in 1996, Insequence has grown from a small technology startup into a trusted provider of manufacturing and supply chain software used in hundreds of automotive supplier facilities across the Americas and Europe. Today, the company’s solutions support suppliers producing parts for a diverse range of more than 20 different automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

This milestone is especially meaningful because Insequence still supports facilities operated by its original customer—a partnership that began nearly three decades ago.

From startup to automotive industry partner

Insequence was originally founded on April 2, 1996, by Keith Delk and Tony Westbrook as Delk/Westbrook Technologies (DWT). Their mission was simple: provide effective technology services and software solutions for manufacturers.

Shortly after the company was formed, DWT received a request from an automotive supplier to develop a custom sequencing application. The successful implementation demonstrated the reliability and value of the software to both the supplier and the OEM involved.

That project marked the beginning of what would become one of the industry’s pioneering sequencing software solutions.

In the company’s early years, Tony Westbrook managed support for the growing automotive customer base while Keith Delk continued working with previously established clients. Meanwhile, development of supplier-focused software solutions continued.

By 1998, demand from automotive suppliers had grown so significantly that the company made the strategic decision to focus exclusively on the automotive industry. This shift included expanding sequencing capabilities, enhancing customer support, and redesigning workstation systems used on the plant floor.

By 2000, Insequence solutions were already operating in eight manufacturing facilities.

Insequence expands solutions for a changing industry

As the automotive industry evolved, so did Insequence’s technology.

The company developed an integrated suite of software modules that support a wide range of manufacturing and logistics functions, including Sequencing, MES, SCADA/MEM, Inventory Management, Data Warehousing, and Network Visualization.

In 2015, Insequence expanded its global presence by opening an office in the United Kingdom, allowing the company to better support European suppliers and OEM programs.

Leadership and a focus on growth

In 2018, Tom Mitchell stepped into the role of President and COO of Insequence and now also serves as the company’s Chief Executive Officer. Under his leadership, the company has focused on expanding its reach, strengthening partnerships, and positioning Insequence for its next phase of growth.

Throughout its 30-year history, Insequence has also built a reputation for long-standing relationships with both employees and customers. Many team members have been with the company for decades, and the company continues to support customers that have partnered with Insequence since its earliest days.

“Thirty years is a lifetime, and I cannot express enough gratitude to our team who made this possible,” said Mitchell. “We have employees who have been with us for more than 20 years, and we even have team members who grew up hearing about Insequence because their parents worked for one of our customers. That says a lot about the strong relationships we’ve built.”

Looking ahead

Today, the automotive supply chain is undergoing a significant transformation that is reshaping manufacturing operations. Digital integration continues to advance production efficiency and visibility, while global supply chain disruptions have increased the need for collaboration and resilience. At the same time, artificial intelligence is beginning to play a growing role in supply chain and manufacturing operations.

Mitchell added, “While we’re proud of what we’ve built over the past 30 years, we’re even more excited about what comes next. The automotive industry is evolving rapidly, and our focus is on continuing to grow alongside our customers. By investing in our people, expanding our technology, and strengthening our partnerships, we’re positioning Insequence to support the next generation of automotive manufacturing.”

Insequence remains committed to helping automotive suppliers navigate this transformation. Its software solutions continue to serve as a critical technology link between suppliers and OEMs, enabling manufacturers to meet evolving production demands with efficiency and reliability.

As the company celebrates its 30th anniversary, Insequence looks forward to continuing its mission of supporting automotive manufacturers with innovative technology solutions for decades to come.
