NASHVILLE SOFTWARE SCHOOL RELEASES 2022 COMMUNITY IMPACT REPORT

Starting Compensation Rises to $65,000 and Graduate Placement Rate Recovers to

Pre-pandemic Levels

NASHVILLE, Tenn., – JANUARY 5, 2023 – Nashville Software School (NSS) released its 2022 Community Impact Report today, noting the graduate placement rate has recovered to pre-pandemic levels at 90% and median starting compensation for graduates rose to $65,000, compared to last year. The placement rate is based on data submitted to the Tennessee Higher Education Commission covering the state fiscal year starting July 1, 2021 and ending June 30, 2022. The placement rate is subject to verification and publication by the commission to be released in early 2023. NSS reported that since its founding, nearly 84% of graduates stayed in Middle Tennessee and were hired by more than 500 local employers.

In 2022, NSS continued its mission to open doors to tech careers by reducing financial barriers to training: 70.6% of students received financial support from NSS or their partners, including 44.8% receiving NSS’s Opportunity Tuition, deferring the majority of their tuition until they graduate and land their first job in tech.

Additional highlights from the 2022 Community Impact Report include the following:

55.8% of students are members of underrepresented groups in tech (women, veterans, people of color)

Completed the last cohort of the GoTech program in partnership with the Nashville Technology Council, Volunteer State, and Nashville State. The GoTech program was funded by the State of Tennessee Give grant and provided free tuition for all enrolled students.

Launched the first two cohorts in the new Software Engineering with Java/AWS Specialization program in collaboration with Amazon.

NSS reached several milestones in 2022 such as celebrating its 10th Anniversary, graduating its 2,000th student and releasing a podcast series, 10 Years | 2000 Journeys, featuring graduates and members of the local tech community sharing their stories and perspectives on the growth of tech in Nashville.

“We remain deeply grateful and humbled by the trust individual students place in us to help them along such an important part of their tech career journey,” says John Wark, founder and CEO, Nashville Software School. “We look forward to serving our community for another 10 years and being part of the next 2,000 student journeys.”
