Greater Nashville Technology Council Also Announced as Double Finalist for Creative Marketing & Communications and Talent Pipeline and Workforce Development Award, presented by Tech Councils of North America (TECNA) 2020 Virtual Presentation

On July 23, 2020, the Technology Councils of North America (TECNA), which represents more than 60 technology associations across the U.S. and Canada, announced the winners of its second-annual Innovation Awards. The awards program recognizes and honors tech council staff and team members who are integral to develop and implement innovative and impactful work on behalf of a tech association. The 2020 Innovation Awards can be viewed on TECNA’s YouTube Channel anytime. The Greater Nashville Technology Council (NTC) is proud to bring home one of five awards and finalists in two others.

The Innovation Awards honor the staff and teams of tech associations across North America who are integral to develop and implement innovative and impactful work on behalf of a tech association. The NTC won the award for “Public Policy Advocacy” which recognizes one or more team members who have led creative efforts on behalf of the tech council in the area of public policy advocacy. The award was presented to NTC’s VP of Public Affairs & Communications, Alex Curtis, in recognition of his leadership in producing the annual NTC DC Fly-in Program. Started in 2015, the advocacy program has been credited with converting political cynics to engaged and passionate advocates.

“We’ve evolved the DC Fly-in into an all-inclusive three day program for NTC member representatives to travel to Washington DC, learn about the latest technology policy issues and how policy is made, connect with Tennessee’s federal policy makers and tech policy leaders, and build lasting bonds with peers from our region,” explained Curtis. “The program provides a sustainable model for all tech councils, small and large, to provide their members a unique and memorable experience while converting members into advocates.”

“I am incredibly proud of Alex and our team for the innovative work they do every day to support and grow the Greater Nashville tech sector. It’s an honor to be recognized as one of the best in North America, along with the other winning organizations,” said Brian Moyer, President and CEO of the Greater Nashville Technology Council. “Many thanks to Doug Robertson and the TECNA Board for creating this opportunity to recognize the extraordinary work being done by tech association teams across North America.”

The NTC team was twice more recognized as finalists for the awards for “Creative Marketing & Communications” which recognizing one or more team members who developed innovative marketing, communications or social media strategies strengthening the brand and community engagement of the tech council and “Talent Pipeline and Workforce Development” recognizing one or more team members who have developed innovative workforce or talent pipeline initiatives. Communications for the NTC’s annual Analytics Summit and the NTC’s Emerging Leaders in Technology (ELITE) programs were among the finalists.

“This year’s Innovation Awards reaffirm the extraordinary talent and creativity of the people that work across the TECNA network. They are the ones that develop and deliver innovative, impactful programs and services for our member companies,” said Doug Robertson, TECNA Board Chair. “It seems only fitting in this difficult year, when so many of our programs and activities have gone virtual, that we celebrate the hard work of all the nominees, finalists and winners with a virtual awards ceremony.”
