NASHVILLE TECHNOLOGY COUNCIL LAUNCHES VETERANS PEER GROUP

Association Hosts Inaugural Program for Those Passionate about Technology and Veterans’ Issues

On January 12, 2018, the Nashville Technology Council will host its inaugural panel discussion of a new veterans peer group. The group is intended for veterans and those who want to learn more about veterans issues in the tech industry.

Increasing numbers of veterans are calling Nashville home. Through this new NTC Veterans Peer Group, NTC can help to provide access to tech leaders who rally around a passion to build the future of the local tech community. The peer group came together under the leadership of Kathryn Acord and Jon Zagami from Bedroc, who both served their country in the U.S. Air Force and Army, respectively.

“This group will serve as place for veterans and nonveterans in our community to sharpen their skills, attract additional talent, and increase professional networks,” affirmed Zagami. “I’m grateful for the leaders who’ve assisted in the formation of this group, the NTC for their tireless efforts to make this a reality, and the support from the community. Come learn how you can get involved!”

The NTC Veterans Peer Group is guided by an Executive Committee made up of Andy Flatt – CIO, NHC Healthcare, Sean Tuley – CIO, LifePoint Health, Greg Schaffer – CEO, vCISO Services, LLC, Andrew Baxter – Director Service Assurance, HCA, and Darin McCloy – Director IT Shearwater Health. For the January discussion, the Executive Committee will serve as the panelists, with vCISO Services, LLC supporting the new effort as the event sponsor.

“Veterans offer many skills useful in the rapidly changing tech field such as adaptability, teamwork, and discipline,” explained Schaffer. “This group provides tech leaders a platform to encourage and mentor veterans to contribute to the tech workforce.”

“The NTC is excited to provide a platform for a new tech-related community for those who have served our country,” emphasized Brian Moyer, President and CEO of the Nashville Technology Council. “We encourage our member companies and their employees to learn more about and to help grow the NTC Veterans Peer Group.”
